The Nation, ON - The Nation Municipality is pleased to announce that the nomination period for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections will officially open on Friday, May 1, 2026.
Nominations may be filed during regular office hours, by appointment, from May 1, 2026 to August 20, 2026, and on Nomination Day, August 21, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Municipal Council Positions
The following positions will be open for nomination:
- Mayor (elected at large)
- Councillor – Ward 1 (St-Bernardin and Fournier Area)
- Councillor – Ward 2 (St-Isidore, Riceville and St-Rose Area)
- Councillor – Ward 3 (St-Albert Area)
- Councillor – Ward 4 (Séguinbourg Area)
- Councillor – Ward 5 (Limoges North Area)
- Councillor – Ward 6 (Forest Park and Limoges South Area)
Candidates must submit a completed Nomination Paper (Form 1), along with 25 endorsement signatures from eligible electors of The Nation Municipality (Form 2), and the required filing fee of $200 for the office of Mayor or $100 for the office of Councillor. The fee may be paid by cash, debit, or certified cheque payable to The Nation Municipality.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of identity at the time of filing. Only forms with original signatures filed in person by the candidate or by an authorized agent will be accepted.
School Board Trustee Positions
Trustee positions are also available across several school boards. Candidates must contact the appropriate municipality to file their nomination.
Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (English Separate - Catholic)
One (1) Trustee representing all municipalities in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell.

- Insufficient Number of Certified Candidates: If there are an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill all available positions, nominations will reopen for vacant positions only on August 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Voting Period: October 21, 2026, to October 26, 2026
- Election Day: Monday, October 26, 2026
- Term of Office: November 15, 2026, to November 14, 2030
