To be legally married in Ontario, you need:
- a valid marriage licence (issued within 90 days)
- a marriage ceremony performed by an authorized officiant
- a marriage certificate (issued after the ceremony by the Province)
Marriage Licences
You can obtain a marriage licence at The Nation Municipality's Town Hall, and it is valid for 90 days anywhere in Ontario.
Marriage Ceremonies
The Nation Municipality offers simple, meaningful civil marriage ceremonies at Town Hall or at a location of your choice, subject to availability.
Marriage Certificates
A marriage certificate is the official legal record of your marriage, issued by the Province after the ceremony. The Record of Solemnization provided by your officiant is not a marriage certificate and cannot be used for legal purposes.
