Summary
Under the supervision of the lead hand, the incumbent will perform the tasks and be responsible for the operation of a tractor during our grass cutting activities along the rural roads in our municipality. The incumbent will perform all other tasks related to grass cutting.
Main Responsibilities
- Mow grass twice during the summer along roads in assigned area.
- Inspect and maintain equipment.
- Report tractor and/or equipment breakdowns.
- Cut brush along roadsides, pick up branches, mulch, mow in the woods and clean up roadside areas.
- Performs all other duties of a similar nature or of a general nature related to this position at the request of the lead hand.
- Occasionally: for road construction, drive a roller, traffic signalman, any other equipment related to this department.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
- At least 6 months of experience, but less than 1 year.
- Experience as a farm tractor operator (an asset).
Certification/Accreditation/Professional Order
- Chain saw license (an asset).
- First aid course, CPR, fire extinguisher, WHMIS.
- Valid class G driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Mechanical knowledge (an asset).
- Oral French and English (maintain a conversation in person).
- Good interpersonal, customer service, judgement, and problem solving skills.
- Good knowledge of the assigned village will be an asset.
Working Conditions
- Requires physical effort, (handling branches, patching, chainsaw).
- Be attentive, punctual, patient, reliable, honest, versatile, responsible and resourceful.
- Able to work in difficult climatic conditions (heat, humidity, etc.).
