Transportation Master Plan for The Nation Municipality
The Nation Municipality is developing a Transportation Master Plan to help guide future transportation investments across the Municipality.
This long-term strategic plan will establish a vision and recommend projects to support the safe, efficient and sustainable movement of people and goods over the planning horizon. It will also help identify projects that may require further study under the Environmental Assessment Act.
The Transportation Master Plan is being completed in accordance with the Municipal Engineers Association’s 2024 Master Planning Process, following “Approach 1.” This approach incorporates Phases 1 and 2 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) process.
Phase 1 identified transportation-related problems and opportunities through a review of the existing transportation system, the Community Travel Survey, and consultation with review agencies and Municipal staff.
Phase 2 developed and evaluated alternative solutions using industry best practices and applicable national and provincial guidelines and standards.
The Municipality invites residents, businesses and interested persons to attend an upcoming Public Information Centre. Participants will be able to review the work completed to date, speak with Municipal staff and the study team, and provide input on the study findings and recommendations.

The event will feature information boards, with Municipal staff and members of the study team available to answer questions.

Study materials presented at the Public Information Centre will be posted on the Municipality’s website within one week following the event and will remain available for the duration of the project.
Comments will be accepted until November 2, 2026. Public participation is an important part of this study, and all feedback received will be considered in developing the Transportation Master Plan recommendations.
