Skate Park / Outdoor Rink at St-Isidore
Thanks to $49,800 OTF Grant

St-Isidore – The official opening of the St-Isidore skate park was held today thanks to a $49,800 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) and the financial support of the St-Isidore community and the Nation Municipality. MPP Jean-Marc Lalonde was joined by OTF volunteer Jocelyne Besner in presenting the group with a plaque to celebrate their achievement.

“This unused community space has now become a venue for outdoor activity,” said Lalonde. “I’m delighted to see that the new Park will engage our youth in constructive sports and recreation.”

The skate park project started in the autumn of 2004 when the committee was formed   with the help of the founder of the skate park in Alfred.  Support of the community and donation promises from local merchants and the Municipality in the amount of $57,855 helped to launch this project.

“We are thankful for the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s commitment to public recreation in our community,” said Gilles Guindon, President of the skate park.

The grant from the Foundation was used to purchase the fiberglass boards, the paving of the Park and the ramps.  The building used for changing skates and storage of watering equipment as well as the purchase of lights and the security camera were made possible by the donations from the community.trillium banner
