Seniors Hall Fully Accessible
Thanks to $33,000 OTF Grant

St. Isidore – The seniors’ committee officially opened their newly renovated hall  in St. Isidore today, thanks to a $33,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).  Jean-Marc Lalonde, MPP for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, joined OTF representative Paulette Hébert at the official opening of the seniors’ hall... “People with disabilities should have the same kind of opportunities. They should be able to move around from place to place just like everyone else,” said MPP Jean-Marc Lalonde.  “In Ontario, one in seven people have a disability.  Making Ontario accessible will benefit all of us. I am very happy that the St. Isidore Hall will now be accessible for all the community.”

The grant was awarded to the Nation Municipality, and funds were used for major renovations to the hall's entrance and ramp, as well as two fully accessible washrooms.  Fundraising by the Club Renaissance and financial support from the Nation Municipality in the amount of $30,000 helped launch the project.

“The Club Renaissance committee is very proud of the support from The Ontario Trillium Foundation” said President Roger Paquette.  “Thanks to the grant we were able to renovate the hall and can now welcome new members to our hall who are physically challenged.”

A leading grantmaker in Canada, the Ontario Trillium Foundation strengthens the capacity of the voluntary sector through investments in community-based initiatives. An agency of the Government of Ontario, OTF builds healthy and vibrant communities. www.trilliumfoundation.org
