MEDIA RELEASE                                                                 August 16, 2008

Ste-Rose summer camp has a new play structure
Thanks to $15,000 OTF Grant ... see photos

Ste Rose – Park Committee officially opened the play structure in the
Ste-Rose Park today, thanks to a $15,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Local community members attended the celebration held at the park with a corn roast and movie screening while children of all ages played with the newly installed structure.

“I am delighted to see the opening of the new playground equipment at the municipal park in Ste-Rose,” said Jean-Marc Lalonde, MPP for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. “The children will benefit from safer outdoor activities and remain active during the summer.”

The OTF grant helped to purchase and install a new playground equipment at Ste Rose Park. The park committee started the fundraising for the play structure in 2007 and continued throughout the summer with bake sales, BBQ’s and movie nights at the park.  Community support and donation promises from the Municipality in the amount of $20,000 helped launch the project.

“The Ste-Rose parc committee is very proud of the support from The Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said Committee President Chantal Brisson-Gagnier.  “Thanks to the grant we were able to install a modern play structure which brings great joy to the children who attend the Ste-Rose summer camp.”

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Government of Ontario. For over 25 years, the Foundation has supported the growth and vitality of communities across the province.
