Municipal Law Enforcement Officers are appointed by Council under the provisions of the Police Services Act and various other Provincial Statutes to enforce local municipal by-laws and some Provincial Statutes.

Duties include:

Enforcing dog licencing
Responding to complaints of nuisance dogs barking or running at large
Impounding dogs
Issuing and enforcing Refreshment Vehicle Licences
Issuing and enforcing Transient Trader Licences
Issuing and enforcing Fire Permits
Issuing and enforcing Sign Permits
Valuing damages to livestock that have been killed or injured by dogs, wolves or coyotes
Enforcing handicapped and other parking restrictions
Issuing Lottery Licences
Enforcing Property Standards to clear yards of inoperative vehicles, debris and long grass
Enforcing noise restrictions
Enforcing the Zoning By-Law
Investigating cases of littering
